The Seychelles archipelago consists of 115 islands, scattered between 450 - 1600 km off the coast of East Africa in the Indian Ocean, and categorized into the Inner and Outer islands. The country is a member of the United Nations, African Union, Commonwealth and La Francophonie.
As the land of perpetual summer it’s always a good time to visit! The temperature ranges between 24° - 34° C throughout the year tropical climate all year round, although different times of year may be better suited to your particular interests.
Seychelles has two main weather seasons.
The Southeast Monsoon May – October It is hottest around during this season with winds of between 10 to 20 knots, bringing the cooler and windier conditions. You might expect to see the sea a bit choppy during these time.
The Northwest Monsoon November to March is generally cooler when wind speeds average from 8 to 12 knots; (experiencing some raining days in December – February).
Irrespective of the nationality, for any visitors traveling to Seychelles, there are NO VISA requirements to enter Seychelles.
All visitors are however required to visit the Seychelles Electronic Border System https://seychelles.govtas.com/ and fill the declaration form before travelling to Seychelles or download the app on smartphone - TRAVIZORY and follow the entry procedures.
The following documents must be shown in order to obtain immigration clearance at the Seychelles International Airport:
– A passport valid on the date of entry to and exit from Seychelles
– Return or onward ticket
– Proof of accommodation; including contact details
– Sufficient funds for the duration of the stay
Presentation of all of the above documents will grant you a Visitor’s Permit, valid for a period of one month. It can be extended for a period of up to three months from the date of issue and capable of further extensions for successive periods not exceeding three months at a time to a maximum period of 12 months, provided that the person still meets the criteria of a bona fide visitor.
No specific vaccinations are required, unless you are from or have passed through a yellow fever area within 6 days prior to arrival.
The GB Pound Sterling (£), the US Dollar (US$) and the Euro (€) are all accepted at some establishment. We recommend that you visit the currency exchange at the Airport or around the Island to facilitate with local incidental purchases including local shops and taxis which are mostly payable in the local currency.
Credit cards are also widely accepted throughout Seychelles.
The national languages of Seychelles are Seychellois Creole, English and French.
For visitors connecting from an international flight there is some flexibility with the luggage allowance, up to 23kg per person. However, should your clients be transferring without an international flight connection, the baggage allowance is 15kg. Clients are advised to ensure to keep to this requirement especially for outer island destinations.
One of the major factors why you should get married in Seychelles is that it involves extremely minimal paperwork requirements. The required documents for an official marriage in Seychelles are as follows: Photocopy of Both Valid Passport, Photocopy of Both Birth Certificate (translated to English or French).
If you have been previously married, a divorce decree or death certificate will be required. Copies of all documents must reach Welcome Travel at least 3 weeks before the planned wedding date. Please bring the original documents for verification purposes with you to the Seychelles.
